Press: “Bloggers Style: Spring Shoes‏” on FLARE.com

2012-02-16_flare_blogger_shoe_spring_style

Today, just a few weeks prior the start of spring, FLARE.com has published a story called “Bloggers: Style Spring Shoes” which features me alongside my fashion blogging counterparts, such as Nelia of Style Blog and Sharon of Backseatstylers – I’m in the #9 spot click here to view.

It’s always a great compliment to be asked to participate in fashion related stories, even greater when it’s a respected magazine like FLARE.

We were asked to provide a picture of ourselves in a spring-inspired outfit and our shoe of choice. The online piece shows a range of shoe styles and outfits the bloggers chose to wear; some leaned towards more whimsical footwear designs, others colour-blocking or a monochromatic look.

Initially when I was contacted by FLARE I had no idea what to wear or which shoes to choose, a theme pretty common when I’m asked to show-off my style. Oh the pressure! In the end I decided to highlight my love for the season’s trend of colour-blocking and donned my very first online shoe purchase, a pair of sandals by Camilla Skovgaard which I wrote about back in June.

In my closet:

  • Shoes, Camilla Skovgaard
  • Trench coat, Jacob
  • Skirt, H&M
  • Top, H&M
  • Handbag, Nella Bella
  • Belt, J.Crew

Special thanks to Ryan Michael Cheung, Assistant Digital Editor at FLARE, for including me on this piece. Photo credit: Michelle Kennedy.

Press: hosting a TV segment for Much Music’s #trending show

2011-12-20_much_music_trending

Yes, you read the title of this blog entry right. I hosted a TV segment for Much Music’s #trending show and it aired this past weekend. YAY!!!

As a teenager I remember being glued to Much Music immediately after returning home from elementary and high school. Back then I religiously watched shows now long forgotten by the modern teenager, such as Electric Circus, Rap City and Da Mix with Master T – ahh, those were the days!

Who would have thought life would come full circle and I would be asked to host a fashion segment on the TV station I grew up on? Not me.

#trending looks at the latest music videos, celebrities, fashion, personal style and beauty tips – basically what's trending right now.

The segment was filmed in November at The Bay Queen Street and focused on flat shoes; it was a great and also educational experience working with Tim (producer) and Jamie (camera man) from Much Music.

Talking on camera is not an easy task; initially, I was a little nervous because I didn’t want to mess up badly and waste valuable time. However, Tim and Jamie were super nice, asked me questions related to shoes and gave me a lot of pointers - I became comfortable in no time!

The segment turned out really well and on Friday my family and I gathered around the TV and watched it. To check out my TV debut click on the words "See All" to the right of the side bar. My segment is #30. Enjoy! http://www.muchmusic.com/tv/trending/ontrending/.

I’m blogging for Globalnews.ca during LG Fashion Week's ss2012 season

2011-10-17_globanewsca_lgfw

For the second season in a row, I’ll be working with the online team at Globalnews.ca to help cover the spring/summer 2012 runway shows at LG Fashion Week.

The first time I worked with Global News’ online team was back in March where they chose a select group of fashion insiders to bring audiences up-to-the minute tweets from the runway. This time around, I’ll be writing a few blog entries for them to cover some of the shows for the ss2012 season; click here to see my very own profile page on Globalnews.ca!

I always find it a great compliment when respected new outlets approach me to do a bit of writing for them and it’s great to partner backup with Globalnews.ca.

Press: I’m featured in FLARE.com’s “Wear Canada: Blogger Edition”

2011-10-13_flare

FLARE.com, Canada’s most popular fashion and beauty website, is currently featuring me along with a group of bloggers from across the country in an online article titled, “Wear Canada: Blogger Edition.” We were asked to wear our favourite Canadian pieces/brands and to show off our personal style – I’m #16, click here to view my spot!

The article heralds in the start of the s/s 2012 runways shows for Toronto Fashion Week by gathering over 20 bloggers and I’m in good company with people such as Nelia Belkova of Styleblog.ca, Sharon Ng-Hayes of Backseatstylers and Danielle Meder of Final Fashion.

When I was contacted by FLARE the first thought that came to mind was, “What am I going to wear?!” Near panic almost set in on what to choose, but at that moment I looked over to my closet and saw my OBJECT leather shirt hanging in plain view. Ever since I purchased this shirt from the collection’s trunk show I find every excuse to wear it out, so it was a no brainer to make it part of my outfit.

To balance out the black leather shirt, I paired it with a bright green tulip skirt from Zara and another colourful neutral, a handbag from Nella Bella.

Press: NOW Magazine features the new class of Toronto fashion bloggers and I’m included!

Andrew Sardone, fashion/design writer for NOW Magazine, contacted me along with two other Toronto fashion bloggers to be included in the publication’s fall fashion feature just in time for LG Fashion Week. The moment I heard this I was overjoyed to be selected.

Approximately four years ago Sardone picked out a handful of local bloggers, such as Tommy Ton (Jak & Jil), Anita Clarke (I Want – I Got) and Danielle Meder (Final Fashion) for a similar feature; all are now well established and respected in the scene. Sardone has the knack for being forward thinking and has his finger on the blogging pulse, and I was honoured to be chosen – thanks Andrew!

I’m in very good company for this feature with fellow fashion bloggers Kevin Naulls of Dressed for Dinner and Stefania Yarhi of Textstyles.
