In the words Beyoncé’s husband and iconic rapper Jay Z “Guess who back?” Yes, that right friends #BloggerBazaarTO is back for its fall 2014 edition and we have more goodies for you. Burgundy is one of my favourite colours to wear in the fall; it’s rich, sensuous and adds instant sophistication to any outfit. Plus when the colour is incorporated into a drool worthy shoe design all common sense to stick within your monthly budget gets thrown out the window and the urge to whip out your credit card takes over.
For example this hot and sexy number by Sam Edelman, dubbed the Pompei, will tempt even the strictest of penny pinchers. The contrast between the brushed suede burgundy trim, mesh cutouts, lace- up detail at the front and exposed back zip is utterly drool-worthy and a must-add piece to your closet. And if that doesn’t make you add this baby to your shopping cart it also comes in black; as those cybernetic aliens called the Borg say on Star Trek, “Resistance is futile!” Buy online.
Weddings… what can I say about them? I have a love hate relationship with the occasion as ironic as it sounds. On the positive side it’s lovely to celebrate the union of two people in love, but on the other hand trying to find something to wear can be akin to Carrie Bradshaw’s chances of finding her stolen pair of Manolo Blahnik heels – watch this video for full shoe reference. American shoe and accessory designer Vince Camuto was recently in Toronto to celebrate the opening of his very first Canadian store at Yorkdale Shopping Centre and I was lucky to be invited to a media breakfast to meet him and get a peek inside his latest store.
To say that the store is a shiny new space would be an understatement, it’s packed wall-to-wall with handbags and shoes – oxfords, heels, booties and over the knee boots – oh my! I had a few minutes to sit down with the designer himself and we chatted about footwear and his requirements for a well-constructed and well-designed shoe; his reply was “comfort and fit.”
Not yet found in store but definitely online is a bootie by the designer that I’m lusting after to add to my closet; it’s the Winta bootie which has heavy biker influence thanks to the quilted leather detailing at the heel and ankle, buckles and a metal bar at the heel. This baby has my motor running! Buy online.
What happens when three stylish sisters, who are Olympians, team up with Canadian footwear and accessories brand CALL IT SPRING? They curate a chic footwear and accessories collection that’s what. Continue reading
Not to be confused with American designer Joseph Altuzarra who is collaborating with Target; Aquazzura, which means “blue water” in Italian, is a luxury footwear brand based in Florence, Italy, started and founded by Edgardo Osorio in 2011. Osorio’s drool-worthy creations are known for combing European aesthetic with sexy Latin flare, as well as for inserting cushioned insoles into his shoes to give its wearer a comfortable ride – bonus!
Aquazzura shoes have graced the feet of stylish celebrities such as Olivia Palermo and Jamie Chung, and when you get a look at the shoe I’m featuring today you’ll understand why. Behold the Lola sandal!
This snake skin and black leather number is the stuff of dreams; the colours of brown and black used in its design make it very versatile. The cut-out details adds immeasurable sex appeal, plus the lace-up front adds a slight hint of bondage. I want this shoe. I want it bad! Don’t you? Buy online.
When it comes to wearing camouflage one can either wear it very well by pairing it with simple understated pieces or very bad, and look like you’ve rolled out of a low budget hip-hop music video. For example, this photo taken back in 2012 comparing Rihanna and Selena Gomez side-by-side; both are wearing the print but in different ways. The Umbrella singer looked like she stepped off said music video set while Justin Bieber’s ex-girlfriend coordinates it to blend with her ensemble.
However, there are the odd times when I’m proven wrong and camouflage should be worn as a statement piece. Italian fashion house Valentino knocked the shoes clear off my feet when I saw its interpretation of the print in this stunning red camouflage pump. If you’re going to hit people’s fashion senses with the print full on then there’s no better than this. Now, if only I have $1,000+ to spare. Hashtag #FashionGirlProblems. Buy online.
The lookbook for Target’s designer collaboration with Joseph Altuzarra recently dropped and if you were excited when you first heard they were joining forces just wait until you peep the collection, it’s quite a stunner. Continue reading
We’re in mid-August and the temperature feels like fall has arrived early; this means it’s time to shop for more shoes! Excuse me while I contain my bubbling excitement.
However, before you max out your credit card to buy those expensive designer heels, InStyle and Nine West have joined forces for a second time to create a capsule collection of footwear with runway and pocket book appeal. The InStyle for Nine West collection offers more than 10 styles of glorious shoes that will put instant pep in your step for fall, ranging in price from $100-$175.
Out of the collection my favourite pair is the Jaiden, a pointy-toe heel with lace and cut-out details, and a 9 cm (3.5 inch) heel that makes it perfect to wear in the office or for a girls night out on the weekend. It’s available in four styles, burgundy, black suede and black calf hair, however, the navy blue is my absolute favourite. Buy online.
When I think of headphones the first thing which comes to mind are a pair of old school ones my dad owned in the 80s. They produced big sound but were heavy and messed up my hair like nobody’s business; definitely not compatible with my burgeoning fashion tendencies and newly pierce ears. Ouch! Continue reading
