When I was a young girl my favourite animals were big cats – lions, cheetahs, leopards and jaguars oh my! These animals are sleek, powerful and rule their territory like a boss. The combination of deadly hunting skills, beauty and grace has always resonated with me, they are my spirit animal.
Sadly, these big cats are endangered and since 2009 have disappeared at an alarming rate. For example, the lion population in Africa has declined 90 percent in the last 75 years and cheetahs have disappeared from more than 75 percent of their range.
To help save them and other big cats, TOMS has partnered with National Geographic to launch the TOMS x National Geographic Big Cats Collection. This special nine-piece limited edition collection of shoes and accessories for men, women and children, range from $38 to $169 CAD. It’s inspired by National Geographic’s Big Cat Initiative, whose goals are to reverse this decline of the big cat population through conversation and education in Africa, Asia, as well as North and South America. The design elements of each piece represent a big cat and iconic photography from National Geographic’s image library.
If you’re a big cat lover like me or are looking to add a little animal print to their fall closet shop this collection now, it’s for a good cause.
