If you follow me on Instagram you’ll often come across photos of me partaking in one of my favourite past-time activities; no, it’s not shopping, eating or sleeping, it’s yoga. I’ve been practicing yoga for more than six years; it allows me to participate in a form of exercise, meditate and centre myself after a stressful day or when life gets tough.
Knowing I’m a hardcore yogi, Montreal-based activewear brand Lolë invited me to participate in the Toronto portion of the Lolë White Tour, an annual event started in 2012 which brings thousands of yogis together to promote individual and collective well being. Everyone who attends is asked to dress in the colour white, which symbolizes peace.
Over the years, the White Tour has taken place in several amazing locations around the world which will make your jaw drop to the ground; for example, underneath the Eiffel Tower in Paris and on the Great Lawn of Central Park. For the Toronto leg of the White Tour, historic Fort York was taken over in a outdoor yoga session consisting of 2,000 people.
Bright and sunny Saturday mornings are made for a massive outdoor yoga session and for slipping your feet into a pair of – gasp – flip-flops. Yes, I actually own two pairs because, sometimes you have to free your feet, plus, it wouldn’t make sense showing up to a yoga class in anything more than this or running shoes.
This was my first time participating in the White Tour and I had a great time – who wouldn’t want to be outdoors in beautiful summer weather surrounded by positive people? Congrats on the great event Lolë, I’ll see you on the mat next year.
