There’s been an energetic buzz in Toronto for the past year for the arrival of one of the world’s largest international multisport events, the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games. For the months of July and August, more than 10,000 athletes and officials from across the Americas and the Caribbean will be coming to this city to test their skills and compete in the Pan Am Games (July 10-26) and the Parapan Am Games (August 7-15) in sports such as basketball to baseball, sailing to swimming and – my favourite event – track and field.
The Games is an event you definitely don’t want to miss and once you’ve purchased your tickets to see the world’s strongest, fastest and fittest people compete what’s next? In my book it’s channelling your inner athlete in style, of course. How you say? Luckily, we don’t have to look far to find and shop for the perfect gear to get into the spirit of the Games thanks to the opening of the TORONTO 2015 Official Store at the Toronto Eaton Centre.
Located on the third floor at the north end of the mall, this store is chock full of exclusive Games merchandise for men, women and kids. Vintage-inspired t-shirts, athletic hoodies, caps and polo shirts are just some of the items you’ll find here and will go well when paired with your favourite skinny jeans and sneakers – hello comfort and style. And if you need another reason to shop, Roots has produced specially designed leather products for the Games in their signature tribe leather; bracelets, wallets and weekender bags ranging in price from $10.50-$300. But wait, there’s more…
Starting July 1st the Toronto Eaton Centre will not be the only place you can shop for Games merchandise. A massive TORONTO 2015 Superstore at Nathan Phillips Square will be open to the public which will house even more exclusive items like the nations collection, so you can cheer on and wear the t-shirt of your favourite country – go Team Canada! This location will also be the hub for all things Games-related not for only shopping but to experience PANAMANIA, a free art and culture festival that will feature world class musical performances and exhibitions by artists such as The Roots and Janelle Monáe. It’s all pretty awesome and I can wait to see you there.
