There’s an elephant in the room and it’s not what you think. TOMS has launched its second TOMS Animal Initiative, where the American do good brand partners with non-profit animal conservation organizations to create and increase awareness, as well as fund animal protection around the world.
The company’s first partnership supported mountain gorillas in the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s Virunga National Park. Now, its second foray into the animal kingdom is a partnership with The Clinton Foundation and the Wildlife Conservation Society launching a new limited-edition collection of vegan shoes for men, women and children shaped in their classic silhouette.
The slip-on shoes are fashioned from canvas, designed with a graphic print at the toe and heel with embroidered elephants on the side to symbolize these beautiful four-legged creatures that are listed as an endangered species. This partnership and the shoes support these organizations’ efforts to protect African elephants that are being killed by poachers for their ivory tusks; an estimated 96 elephants per day are killed.
The TOMS Animal Initiative shoes range from $38 for kids and youths to $70 for adults (men and women). Buy online at TOMS.ca.
