Fitness is not a topic I write about on this blog and the closest I’ve come to covering it is featuring the occasional athletic shoe. However, if you’ve been following me online for the past few years (Twitter and Instagram), you know I have a love for yoga and from time to time make it to the gym to pump iron, because one can’t expect to fit into a skin tight leather dress without putting your body through its paces.
Best Buy invited me to attend a special blogger boot camp lead by celebrity fitness trainer Tommy Europe, as well as check out the company’s new online brand VIVA which offers health, wellness and beauty products. Always up for a challenge I said “Why not!” while in the back of my mind I feared he might kill us.
Fortunately, for everyone taking the boot camp Europe is as friendly as a new pair of designer shoes on discount. Several leg lifts, kettle ball squats and push-ups later he gave us a challenging, yet fair, workout. I came away feeling pretty good, a little sweaty, but all in all happy with the experience. At the end of the boot camp, Best Buy outfitted us with a few of its newest fitness tools; I chose the FitBit Flex, a wireless fitness monitor.
I’ve had the device on my arm for a week straight 24/7, obsessively tracking my activity, calories consumed and sleep patterns. This whole experience got me thinking, maybe all you need is a little help from technology to get you off the couch and onto the treadmill. Activity trackers are more stylish these days, here are few VIVA from Best Buy offers online that will help you stick to your fitness goals for 2014.
