By now you’ve likely seen images of Sarah Jessica Parker’s highly anticipated shoe collection splashed across the home pages of every fashion website and blog. A lot of excitement is building for this collection which will be launching in select Nordstrom stores and online on February 28th. If you read my blog post about the SJP Collection back in June it’s been a long time coming for shoeaholics and Sex & the City fans.
However, if you haven’t seen images of said collection then may I present the first few looks to sate your footwear desire.
What do you think? I’ve held back my judgement of the collection until now for two reasons; 1) the published images of the line reveals a lacklustre collection and 2) I know this couldn’t be all that Sarah Jessica Parker (aka: Carrie) and her business partner George Malkemus, CEO of Manolo Blahnik, had in their arsenal.
Hoping for something better that would hold off my disappointment, I scoured the web looking for better images of the collection that would give me a reason to change my mind. That’s when I stumbled across the SJP Collection Instagram account where select images of the line have been uploaded, giving a detailed look at some of the shoes.
Many of the off-figure images of the shoes, previously seen, don’t really capture how universally versatile and well-crafted they are. Details such as grosgrain ribbon attached to the back of each shoe pays tribute to the actress’s childhood memory of shopping for hair ribbons with her mother, as well as the use of fine Italian leather in its construction. Of course, nothing is a better gauge of how well-received the shoes will be until they’re on your feet, only then you’ll be able make a truly informed decision about whether the design, fit, quality and price is worth all the hype.
